CAAH! Conserving Arkansas’s Agricultural Heritage

On March 10, 2012, University of Central Arkansas’s Conserving Arkansas’s Agricultural Heritage (CAAH!) will host a Seed Swap, free of charge, from 10AM-2PM, at the Eureka Springs Carnegie Library, 194 Spring Street, and then a fundraiser at the New Delhi Restaurant, 2 N Main St, Eureka Springs, AR 72632. The fundraiser consists of film screenings, including the documentary film Seed Swap, directed by Zachariah McCannon, from 2:30-4PM, and the documentary film, The Natural State of America, directed by Terrell Case, Corey Gattin, and Timothy Wistrand, from 4:30-6:15. Each film will be followed by a discussion and Q&A with the film-makers and film-participants. The live music component of the fundraiser will be headlined by Eureka Springs’ own Mountain Sprout at 8pm, and the opening acts include Buck Bell and others to be announced beginning at 6:30. The pre-paid costs for the fundraiser are: $5 for films, $12 for films and music, $10 for live music only. The tickets may be advance purchased at: https://community.uca.edu/sslpage.aspx?pid=394 Proceeds go to the Conserving Arkansas’s Agricultural Heritage non-profit account with the UCA Foundation and to assist the film-makers with DVD distribution.

WHO: University of Central Arkansas Sociology Department ‘s CAAH! partnering with the Eureka Springs Library and any interested farmers and gardeners and the general public
WHY: To conserve the agricultural biodiversity of the Natural State, and to raise funds to allow CAAH! to continue growing out heirloom seeds and distributing them. Also, to raise awareness of conservation initiatives intended to keep the Natural State natural.
HOW IT WORKS: Anyone can bring seeds to swap or share. If you do not have seeds, you could bring envelopes or garden implements, anything to share or trade with other gardeners.
COST: None for the Seed Swap, Fundraiser Pre-Paid Costs: $5 for films, $12 for films and music, $10 for live music only. Fundraiser at the door: $7 films, $15 films and music, $12 music
